Executive Functioning &
Organizational Coaching

Personalized coaching that targets the higher-order cognitive skills behind academic achievement, social success, and daily functioning for students who are working hard but not getting the results their effort deserves.

The Higher-Order Skills
Behind Everything Your
Student Does

Executive Functioning is a term that encompasses various higher-order cognitive processes that govern goal-directed behavior and enable us to manage everyday activities. These are the mental skills that help us get things done.

Executive functioning is not a cognitive disability. In fact, people who have not been diagnosed with a cognitive disability may still experience significant academic, social, life skill, and career challenges if they have deficits in their executive functions. These challenges are real and they are addressable with the right support.

Strong executive functioning underpins academic performance, social relationships, daily independence, and long-term career success. When these skills are underdeveloped, coaching not just more effort is what makes the difference.

Signs Your Student May Need EF Coaching

Homework consistently left incomplete or submitted late despite genuine effort

Binder, backpack, and computer files chronically disorganized

Cannot break long-term projects into steps frozen by where to start

Grades do not reflect actual ability the gap between effort and output is growing

Acts impulsively, struggles to resist distractions, or has difficulty identifying consequences

What Executive Functioning Actually Means in Practice

Executive functioning encompasses three foundational skill clusters. Our coaching directly addresses all three through strategies, systems, and practice that transfer into academic and daily life.

Inhibitory Control

The ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information and resist temptations.

Cognitive Flexibility

The ability to persist in a task without shifting and find multiple ways to solve problems.

Working Memory

The ability to keep and manipulate multiple sources of information at the same time.

Honest answers to the things you're actually wondering.

Executive functioning encompasses the higher-order cognitive processes that govern goal-directed behavior — including inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and working memory. These skills underpin academic performance, social success, daily independence, and long-term career function. Importantly, executive functioning is not a cognitive disability. Students without any learning diagnosis can still have significant executive functioning deficits that create real, daily challenges — which is exactly why coaching is effective for such a wide range of students.
No. Executive functioning coaching is appropriate for any student who is struggling with organization, time management, study skills, follow-through, or the academic demands of middle or high school — regardless of whether they have a formal diagnosis. Many of the students who benefit most from coaching have no clinical label at all.
The 3-part initial evaluation ($150) allows our coach to understand your student's specific executive functioning strengths, limitations, learning style, and areas of greatest need before sessions begin. This ensures that coaching is genuinely personalized — not generic advice delivered without context. The evaluation is the foundation that makes all subsequent coaching more targeted and effective.
Yes. Individual coaching sessions are available both in-person and virtually. The initial evaluation must be completed in person. For ongoing virtual clients, we recommend scheduling at least one in-person session after every three virtual sessions to maintain connection, review materials, and reassess goals.
Yes, and it is often recommended. Executive functioning coaching pairs particularly well with cognitive and memory training, neurofeedback, and individual psychotherapy for students whose organizational challenges are connected to underlying attention, memory, or emotional regulation difficulties. Our team can help coordinate a comprehensive support plan.
